Quilton

Highly evolved and long-lived, the Quilton are softball-sized slug-like creatures that are believed to have evolved at great ocean depths and temperatures. Fewer than ten thousand Quilton have been encountered in the galaxy, which may or may not be indicative of their true numbers. Nor has any Quilton ever revealed their planet of origin, which is shrouded in mystery.

The Quilton travel in environmental suits that are molded to resemble various other races of the galaxy. Most Quilton possess several such suits, swapping between them to enhance their interactions with non-Quilton.

In their native form, Quiltons lack the ability to speak aloud. Instead, they project their thoughts directly into the awareness of those they would converse with.

There is inconclusive documentation (on a galactic level), but the Probability Guild of Earth believes that individual Quilton automatically warp probability in their vicinity, effectively making them incredibly "lucky" in every aspect of their endeavors. The only protection against this effect is another Quilton whose only goals/desires are at odds with those of the first, thus canceling out one another's luck.
